Act Happy

Act Happy

If you don’t feel happy, pretend to be. Even if you are depressed, put on a smile. Act happy. Genuine joy will follow.
Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

On cold, grey days we often feel the urge to escape, and so we do. Into music, movies, dreams, frenzied work - anything not to feel uncomfortable. We live like empty shells, like zombies, hurrying through a reality that we reject. The truth is, we’re not living, but merely existing. And look into our faces: tense, stressed, sad...

Let’s turn the whole thing around!

Put on a smile, act as if you were happy.  Smile to yourself in the mirror. Say something nice to your neighbour, try to remember a joke to tell your partner, invite your colleague for lunch. Do it with all your conviction, and you will see how things change. Genuine joy will follow! :-)

The Real Question

The Real Question

The question is not, how we can obtain love and understanding. The question is, whether we have the capacity of generating love and understanding ourselves.
Thich Nhat HanhAnswers From the Heart

Sometimes we feel a lack of love in our lives. Perhaps we have had an argument with a loved one, perhaps we even broken up. Perhaps our child said something unkind, or our friend didn’t seem to care about our problems.

Instead of being sad because of the percieved lack of love from others we should turn towards ourselves to look for love. Are our hearts soft and open enough to generate love, both for ourselves and for others? Are we able to give, without the need of receiving? Are we willing to forgive thoughtless words or actions, and move on?

Love starts within ourselves: we soften our hearts, and open up to the miracle of life. A warm wave of love will be born.

Care, Share & Inspire

I care, share, and inspire.
Dadi Janki

Sometimes I ask myself: What am I actually doing with my life?

Yes, I left a lifestyle that didn’t feel right anymore, and yes, I found my paradise up here in the mountains. But is all that just one big Ego Trip? That really isn’t my intention!

The quote by Dadi Janki feels very right. That’s just what I want to focus my life on: caring, sharing and inspiring. I do my best to stay in touch with my near and dear ones and show them that I care and am there for them. I share my love for my “Wahlheimat” (freely chosen home region) through the photos I publish on Instagram. And it makes me really happy if I can inspire others via my blog or these little newsletters!

I only wish I could do MORE of it, so I’m still looking for appropriate channels. If you have any good ideas or suggestions, I’d be more than happy to receive them! :-)

Just Be

Just Be

We can afford to just authentically be, without proving or doing anything. This is the wisdom of allowing.
                                                  Lama Surya Das

Starting off the new year with good resolutions and lots of ideas on what to do or how to do things is all fine, but let’s not forget the most important thing - to simply be.

In the middle of hurried, active lives, we must learn to stop. Both our body and our mind need pauses, they need to come back to stillness.

All too often our actions are driven by the wish to show the world how clever, strong and good we are. Why? We don’t need to prove anything! We are good enough simply by being authentically ourselves.

Breathe into every corner of your body. Relax your mind, and allow yourself just to be. Doesn’t it feel wonderful? :-)
