Offer a Compliment

Offer a Compliment

It may seem simple, but in offering a compliment, we offer love in one of its purest, most selfless forms – words for no other purpose than to make the other person feel good.
Daphne Rose Kingma:  A Garland of Love

Offering words of appreciation to another person with the only purpose to make him or her feel good is so easy. Everybody you meet has something positive that you can compliment on.
Somebody’s smile may strike you, or how good he looks in a hat or the elegance, with which she enters into a small parking place. Sometimes you have to look a bit closer to find something positive to comment on, but with a little good-will you will always succeed J
Make it this week’s task to offer a compliment to at least one person a day – and notice how much happiness you’ll spread that simple way!

Be the Light

Be the Light

Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light.
Yogi Bhajan

Summer is a travelling season for many. In buses, trains and airports I see people dragging along huge bags and suitcases and I always wonder: why?
You can look good on the beach, in the city, or wherever you go even if you only have two different shirts, one pair of jeans and a skirt to change between (accessories are key!).  And what do you need heavy entertainment devices for? You’re going away to discover another place!
I always hated travelling with big and heavy luggage, but that’s over now. I also sincerely dislike being weighed down by too much stuff at home and have cleared out huge amounts of things over the years.
I simply love living light - and I adore the last part of the quote, too: it makes me happy to spread a little light by being helpful, kind and easygoing. And it fills me with immense joy to be a part of the light of Life.

Give Thanks for Life

AA wrote: Thank heavens I’m still up! Love this and during a painful time it’s vital to remember life is sacred!

Give Thanks for Life

Life itself is a gift.
It's a compliment just being born:
to feel, breathe, think, play, dance, sing, work, make love,
for this particular lifetime.
Today, let's give thanks for life.
For life itself. For simply being born!
Daphne Rose Kingma: “A Garland of Love”

Inspired by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, my first thought when opening my eyes in the morning is Thank You!  for waking up to another day.  However, I love the idea of taking the whole day to celebrate Life with gratefulness!
For many, summer vacation has already started and it’s easier to choose a day when you’re off from work for such a celebration.  Choose one day this week to say thanks for the fact that you are alive!
Invite somebody you like to share a coffee or a meal, and say Thank You to your friend for being there. Eat and drink, feeling grateful that you can enjoy good and nourishing food.  Take a walk in nature, and send your love to the Earth, trees, flowers and butterflies.
During this special day, note how you feel, breathe, think, play, dance, sing, work, or make love, and do it all with extra attention. During every activity, give thanks for life itself, for simply being born!

Kindness and Love

The best portion of a good man's life: his little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love.
                William Wordsworth

Reading my little Monday musings it may seem as if my main concern in life is myself, but that is not the case. I just think it’s essential to take good care of yourself because only then can you take well care of others.

Aren’t the best moments in your life when you can spread the good you have inside to people around you? Aren’t the “little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love” that you do for others what makes life worth living? Remembering the happiness on the old lady’s face when I spontaneously helped carrying her big shopping bag or the shy, smiling “thank you” of the unknown little girl I gave an apple, I definitely think they are.
